Real Mallorca have completed the signing of Barcelona goalkeeper Rubén Miño on a free transfer, the club have confirmed. The 23-year-old Catalan has signed a four year deal with Los Bermellones.
‘Valdés performs to a very high level and so I thought it was best to leave,’ Miño revealed. ‘Mallorca gives me the opportunity to progress and that is very important. Here there are two great goalkeepers. I have to learn, integrate and make every effort to earn the confidence of the coach.’
Director of Football Llorenç Serra Ferrer said, ‘Rubén reinforces the project for not only this season, but for years to come. He will have to compete with Aouate, Calatayud and Yeray. It is a chain of succession that we believe is well structured and in which we have alot of confidence.’
Miño will join up with the first team squad for preseason, but it is unclear whether he’ll remain on the island for the 2012/2013 season. There is a good chance that Juan Calatayud will leave the club, and if he does Miño will become Aouate’s new understudy. If Calatayud stays, Miño will leave the club on loan.
