Real Mallorca have completed the signing of Getafe midfielder Javier Arizmendi on a year long loan deal. Joaquín Caparrós sees the 28-year-old as the ideal replacement for winger Chori Castro, who joined Real Sociedad upon the expiry of his contract this summer.
‘I’m very excited to be a part of this team,’ Arizmendi said on his unveiling. ‘I’ve come to play as many games as possible and be a key part of the team. I bring experience and I hope to adapt as quickly as possible.’
The deal looked to be falling through due to Arizmendi’s €35,000 (£28,000) per week deal with Madrid side Getafe. But due to Caparrós’ request, Serra Ferrer did not give up and in the end it was agreed that Mallorca will pay around €15,500 (£12,500) of his weekly wage and Getafe will pay the remaining amount.
