Real Mallorca want Jonathan dos Santos
According to reports in Spain, Real Mallorca are looking at the possibility of signing defensive midfielder Jonathan dos Santos on loan from Catalan giants FC Barcelona. Jonathan dos Santos is the younger brother of new signing Giovani dos Santos, an attacking midfielder signed from Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day.
Mundo Deportivo reported that Los Bermellones have already approached Barcelona with a view to taking the Mexican midfielder on loan in January following his omission from every one of Tito Vilanova’s squads this season.
Jonathan is understood to have rejected an offer to join Michel’s Sevilla during the summer to stay and fight for a place at the Camp Nou. However, the 22-year-old has been frustrated in his attempts to force his way into Vilanova’s plans and is understood to be open to a move where he would link up with his elder brother.
Mallorca have been plagued by injuries and the centre of midfield has been badly hit with both Javi Márquez and João Victor ruled out with long term injuries. This means Caparrós currently only has Tomás Pina and veteran Pep Martí as fit first team central midfielders.
The club has also been linked with a potential move for former midfielder Fernando Tissone who has struggled to hold down a place in the Sampdoria first team since the Italian club bought out Udinese’s 50% of the player’s rights.
