Zuiverloon joins Heerenveen on loan
Real Mallorca right back Gianni Zuiverloon has joined Eredivisie side Heerenveen on a year long loan deal, Spanish media is reporting. Zuiverloon joined Mallorca last summer on a free transfer after being released by Premiership side West Bromwich Albion.
Despite starting the season as first choice, he soon lost his place under Michael Laudrup to Pau Cendrós. This didn’t change under Joaquín Caparrós who also chose against picking the former U21 European Championship winner.
Rumours began circulating that the 25-year-old was an imminent departure from the Iberostar Estadi after he missed training yesterday and posted a picture of himself to Twitter on a boat.
In responding to a fan on Twitter who thanked him for his hard work, Zuiverloon replied ‘thanks, but I’m not gone yet,’ on Friday. In hindsight, did he mean his immediate future, or was he referring to possibly returning to the club after his loan deal expires? He currently has two years remaining on his current contract.
