Mallorca complete Antonio López signing

Real Mallorca have completed the signing of Atlético Madrid left back Antonio López on a free transfer. The 30-year-old has agreed a two year deal with an option of a third to become Mallorca’s first signing of the summer.

López called the transfer ‘a new and exciting adventure’. Talking to the official website he went on to say, ‘it was a discrete deal. It’s true that I had several options but I believe this is the best option with the project being undertaken by the Mallorca coach and endorsed by Serra Ferrer.’

‘I have always spoken highly of Mallorca, the fans, the people and the team. One thing I always say is that this is a difficult place to come and win. Teams know they have to work hard.’

The Spaniard came through the cantera at Atlético Madrid where he has spent his whole career, barring a two year spell at Osasuna on loan. In his thirteen years in the capital, he amassed a total of 214 appearances scoring 11 goals in the first team. He also spent a two year spell in the Spanish national team between 2005 and 2007 where he picked up 16 caps, scoring 1 goal.
