Real Mallorca sack Chief Exec Pedro Terrasa

Real Mallorca have announced that they have sacked Chief Executive Pedro Terrasa for ‘loss of confidence’ this morning. This was despite the objections of Board member Utz Claassen. We first announced last Friday that the club were ready to make the move, coming less than a week after Terrasa increased his stakeholding in the club.

Terrasa, along with Utz Claassen, has been involved in a bitter war for power at the club with majority shareholder Llorenç Serra Ferrer and Club President Jaume Cladera. Both Claassen and Terrasa have increased their stakeholding in the club to 20% and 25% respectively. But the group led by Serra Ferrer still holds 55%, making them the majority shareholders.

The institutional crisis at the club deepens, and this may have a knock-on effect on whether Joaquín Caparrós decides to stay at the club. The Andalusian coach has said that peace at Board level is a requirement for his continuation, but this story is unlikely to go away.
