Caparrós criticises two match touchline ban
Real Mallorca Head Coach has criticised the two match touchline ban he was given following his side’s 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid at the Iberostar Estadi in Palma. Caparrós stated that he felt the punishment was ‘excessive’.
Speaking before the Copa del Rey Quarter Final Second Leg, Caparrós said, ‘I’m taking it very badly and I’ve never thought I could get it, but here it is; it shouldn’t happen again and I hope that with Luci everything will continue in the right way. The ban was too much, especially seeing my background.’
‘I’m a coach that gesticulates a lot but always with respect, because there must be respect. The ban was excessive, but there it is, I can’t do anything but comply with it. From now on, even if I’m tempted to do it again, I swear I won’t and that I’m going to stay in the pitch.’
The Utreta coach was given the ban after being sent off for leaving his technical area in the 89th minute against Real Madrid. He also received a €600 fine whilst the club received a €180 fine too. He missed the games against Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Club, with his assistant Luci Martín taking charge on the touchline in his absence.
