Hemed penalty steals vital point in Granada

Granada CF 2-2 Real Mallorca
La Liga, Jornada #13
Wednesday 7th December 2011, 6.30pm kick off GMT

A trademark Tomer Hemed penalty has rescued Real Mallorca as they resumed the last 25 minutes of their abandoned game with Granada. The game started at 2-1 after goals from Siqueira and Martins cancelled out Víctor Casadesús’ opener for Real Mallorca.

Mallorca took advantage in the best way of the 30 minutes left of Granada 2-1 Mallorca, which was abandoned on the 20th November 29 minutes before the 90 were up. Tomer Hemed scored a penalty goal which made them reach the draw 2-2 and gain an extra point in the League table. The 18 year old centre back player Pablo Marí made his debut in Spanish Premier League and Nunes was back after his knee injury.

The discomforts of the journey to Granada in the middle of the week got a reward. Mallorca finally got an important point which keeps them on a good run, once again thanks to an eleven meter distance goal by Hemed, the fifth till now.

Joaquín Caparrós demanded maximum concentration and to fight for the victory. It is most notable Zuiverloon’s return among the first-string players as right-back, Nunes’ return in the season 11/12 after his knee injury or Pablo Marí’s debut as left-back. This combination was brilliant, since, in just 4 minutes after the start, Mallorca had already achieved its first aim: getting the draw. Íñigo López fouled Víctor knocking him down in the goal area and Tomer Hemed scored 2-2.

The islanders knew they had to keep this way in order to get something more, so they almost didn’t leave Granada breathe. Víctor Casadesús could have got the lead. Pereira took a free kick from the right flank which reached perfectly Víctor’s head. With a header, Víctor put the ball below the right-upper corner of the goal, but Roberto managed to stop it when it was inside the goal line.

When ten minutes were left, Granada had a clear chance with a header by Íñigo López, which was easily stopped by Aouate. Close to the end, another fine move was made by Álvaro from the right-hand side, which didn’t find anyone to kick it into the net, although it was an excellent move.

This was an important point obtained outside the Iberostar Estadi. Now, the team has to go back to Palma and focus on next victory in Zaragoza’s pitch next Sunday.
