Terrasa remains at Real Mallorca, Nadal leaves Board
In an awkward press conference last night, majority shareholder Llorenç Serra Ferrer confirmed that Pedro Terrasa was to remain at the club despite the accusations levelled at him by Biel Cerdà and Miquel Coca.
Serra Ferrer was joined by President Jaume Cladera and Utz Claassen, but there was no Terrasa, Cerdà or Coca despite their statements. The press conference was called after an extraordinary emergency board meeting which last for six hours discussing solely the situation which has risen in the past few days.
Cladera stated that, ‘Mr. Terrasa has shown his sincere loyalty to the Board and the project which is something that has been unanimously agreed by the Board. Mr. Cerdà and Mr. Coca have apologised to Mr. Terrasa and we are all committed to settling our differences within the Board together.’
‘We deeply regret the image we have projected over the last few days. The statements that have been made cannot be denied.’
They did confirm that there was a casualty from the Board, however. Club legend Miguel Àngel Nadal tendered his resignation.
Cladera explained, ‘the events of recent weeks have caused a conflict of interest for his position in the coaching staff as well as on the Board. To facilitate his sporting decision making, this has led to him resigning from the Board but maintaining his status as a shareholder.’
The odd attempt of solidarity between the Board didn’t convince journalist Tomeu Maura. ‘Make no mistake, the war continues. Just not in the open.’
The administrators have since imposed a strict code of conduct upon the Board. Only two members may make statements – Jaume Cladera and Llorenç Serra Ferrer. Only Cladera may talk about the operational aspects of the club and only Serra Ferrer may talk about the sporting side of the club.
