Alfaro: ‘The team has a long way to go’

New Real Mallorca midfielder Alejandro Alfaro was satisfied with his debut, the 1-0 Trofeu Ciutat de Palma defeat to Napoli, saying the result is ‘anecdotal’ and that it was more important they were ready for the league.

‘I felt good and comfortable,’ Alfaro told Marca. ‘Maybe the result was anecdotal. But the most important thing is the legs are working and they are okay for the start of the season – that is really important.’

He went on to say, ‘we struggled to get into the game and for the first 25 minutes they dominated. From there, the team stepped forward and took control of the game and the ball.’

Speaking about the future, Alfaro said, ‘clearly the team still has a long way to go. There are a lot of new people, like me, and we are still in preseason. The image of the team and their attitude was good and we created chances and had the ball.’

Alfaro has been handed the number 24 shirt for the upcoming season.
