Mallorca complete Zuiverloon signing

Real Mallorca have completed the signing of West Brom defender Gianni Zuiverloon on a three-year-deal. Zuiverloon’s contract with the English side was left to expire in the summer after new boss Roy Hodgson made it clear the Dutchman was not in his plans.

Zuiverloon joined West Brom for £3.2 million in the summer of 2008, a time when both Manchester United and FC Barcelona were paying attention to the player. He started well at the club before fading away in the latter stages of the season. This was something that manager Tony Mowbray attributed to a summer of international football for the Dutchman.

The 24-year-old, who can also play at centre-back, joins to presumably take the role of first choice right back ahead of Pau Cendrós. He is the fourth signing of the summer, after Tomer Hemed, Juan Calatayud and Pablo Cáceres.

Zuiverloon told rcdmallorca.es, “I am very happy and I hope to do well as a RCD Mallorca player. I will do everything I can to help the team have a good season.”
