Mallorca complete signing of Pablo Cáceres
Real Mallorca have completed the signing of Uruguayan left-back Pablo Cáceres from Argentinian side CA Tigre.
The 26-year-old, who comes as a replacement for the now-departed Ayoze, has spent four years in Europe with a brief stint at FC Twente in Holland before his main spell with MSV Duisburg of Germany from 2006 to 2009. He then also had a brief spell with Cypriot side AC Omonia.
“I want to thank the people at the club who were interested in me,” the defender told the club website. “I had several offers from Argentina and Europe but I was seduced by Mallorca. I know the city and I know it’s very nice. I’m very happy to be here and eager to meet my peers and the coaching staff. I have faced Chori Castro many times in Uruguay.”
When asked how he’d describe himself, he said, “I do not like defining myself. But I think I’m very temperamental. But I guess you will see this as the days go by.”
He won’t take up a place on the non-EU list due to holding a European passport.
