Hammarby IF 0-0 Real Mallorca

In the opening game of pre-season, Real Mallorca saw out a 0-0 draw with Swedish side Hammarby IF in a game which was overshadowed by Pierre Webó’s refusal to play over a contract dispute.

Head Coach Michael Laudrup handed first team debuts to Uche, Hemed, Calatayud, Ximo, Cáceres, Tito and Abdón but new signing Gianni Zuiverloon was forced to hang on.

Víctor Casadesús had the first real chance in the pooring Stockholm rain but his powerful strike was turned behind by Malke. Michael Pereira also had one of his traditional shots from long range, but failed to find the target.

In the second half, Abdón and Tito linked up but the latter could only blaze the ball over the crossbar.

The new signings bedded in to the team well. Hemed showed a great work ethic, exampling his power and physique.

Meanwhile, Cáceres put in a good defensive performance. The Uruguayan is ultra-defensive, and it showed, as he didn’t make any attacking moves.

And Juan Calatayud tried to prove that he was safe and secure with the very little work he had to do.

It was a good performance by Mallorca considering they have only been back to full training for four days. But it was clear what was on Laudrup’s mind after the game when he stated ‘we need to fix the Webó situation’.
