Enrique Corrales rescinds contract and leaves Real Mallorca

Spanish left back Enrique Corrales has rescinded his contract with La Liga side Real Mallorca and left the club a day before being due to return to pre-season training.

Corrales joined the Islanders in the summer of 2008 where he competed with Ayoze for the first choice left back role at the club. He succeeded in his first season, but fell down the pecking order in subsequent seasons. Last season, he fell to third choice behind youngster Kevin GarcĂa.

Mallorca tried to offload the 29-year-old in the January transfer window. But Corrales refused to take even a Euro less than the current contract he was on, so his moved to Real Valladolid fell through.

The defender was due to return to the club for pre-season training tomorrow morning at 8.30am, but the player and his agent came to an agreement with Mallorca Director of Football Llorenç Serra Ferrer to terminate the final 12 months of his contract. The club, however, have not revealed the details of the agreement.

Corrales, who appeared in 40 league and cup games for Los Bermellones, said, “I feel sad that I’m leaving, but I wish the best to Mallorca and my colleagues. It has been an honour to have played for this club. But both parties are satisfied with this agreement. My situation was not easy and I must continue to see where I can go forward from here.”
