Trejo joins Sporting Gijón

Argentinian striker Óscar Guido Trejo has joined first division side Sporting Gijón in a deal worth €1 million (£875,000) after coach Laudrup told the club he is not in his plans and would not take him back.

Trejo joined the club in December 2006 from Boca Juniors on a free transfer as he had not yet signed a professional contract. His former club complained but FIFA ruled in Mallorca’s favour.

The striker, who spent last season on loan at Rayo Vallecano, was disappointed that the club did not keep in contact with him throughout the season – particularly went it was released in the news that Rayo Vallecano’s players haven’t been paid in a very long time. Because of this, Trejo stated that he did not want to return to the club.

Real Mallorca retain 20% of the Argentine’s rights meaning any future deal involving Trejo, Mallorca will receive 20% of.
