Ximo may join first team, Lux’s contract left to expire

Since Ratinho’s departure on loan to São Paolo, Pau Cendrós’ place at right back has remained unchallenged. This is something both Laudrup and Serra Ferrer are keen to address for the 2011/2012 season, but both have different ideas.

Serra Ferrer publicly declared at the close of the transfer window that he had full faith in B team right back Ximo to step up to the first team if called upon this season. And he also believes he should be the long term challenger for Cendrós’ role. However, Ximo hasn’t yet managed to convince Laudrup that he has the ability to step up.

It is believed that Laudrup wants to keep Pau Cendrós as first choice right back, so signing a new right back seems to be out of the question. It is believed, however, that Laudrup has not ruled out bringing back Ratinho in July to start the season as second choice if Ximo can’t step up.

Germán Lux to leave club

Meanwhile Germán Lux’s contract, which was renewed last summer as he took a pay cut to remain at the club, will be left to expire at the end of the season. Lux has failed to impress Laudrup, the fans and press in the games he has had on the pitch this season and his fate was inevitable.

What is yet unclear is whether Serra Ferrer will look to bring in another goalkeeper or look to any of the three B team goalkeepers of Tomeu Nadal, Javi Seral or Yeray. The latter, Yeray, is a very talented young goalkeeper who must be being groomed as the long term Aouate successor. The 18-year-old is a regular in the Spanish youth set up.
