Real Mallorca have opened contract negotiations with central defender Rubén. The Spaniard will be out of contract in the summer.

Young Mallorca striker Sergi Enrich was on the end of an astonishing attack during a B team game on Sunday morning. The striker had his ear bitten by Alcoyano defender Paco Esteban resulting in a straight red card. The defender during the match shouted ‘come on, you’re going to lose’ and ‘you’re going down’ to the B team players. He also said to Sergi ‘you are a cuckold, you are a cuckold’.
After the game, Sergi said he could not understand the reason for the assault saying ‘everything that has happened is completely surreal. I have been insulted. I have been spat upon. When they scored their second goal, Esteban called me ‘un hijo de puta’ (roughly, a son of a bitch, literally, son of a whore) and then he bit me’.

After the weekend’s disappointing result, veteran midfielder Pep Martí has told the press that 42 points ‘will not be enough’ and that the club must aim for 43. They are currently on 39 points, just 6 points clear of the relegation zone.
Mallorca’s decline since the second round of La Liga started has been well apparent. In the second round, Mallorca sit in 17th place with just 12 points. The bottom three are Espanyol (11 points), Getafe (10 points) and Hércules (8 points).
Laudrup made it clear to his players just how unhappy he was with this weekend’s result as he lectured players for 20 minutes on the training pitch. According to local TV station IB3, his anger was clear.
Commenting to the press, the Dane said, ‘Málaga were superior in every phase of the game’.
