Real Mallorca B 1-1 Atlético Baleares
Real Mallorca B’s attempt to steer clear of relegation suffered another major blow as they could only register a draw against local rivals Atlético Baleares. And it was nearly so much worse with captain Ramón saving the teams blushes with a 90th minute equaliser to save atleast a point.
There was a packed grandstand at La Ciutat Esportiva who all observed a minutes silence for those who have lost their lives in the Japan quakes.
Sergi Enrich, Abdón and Didac all had good chances but it was Martins who gave the away side from Palma the lead after an organised and disciplined defence kept Mallorca at bay in the first half. His header could not be dealt with by Tomeu Nadal giving Atlético Baleares the lead after 52 minutes.
Ramón’s 90th minute equaliser spared the blushes of coach Vicente Engonga just when it looked like former team mate and Atlético Baleares coach Gustavo Siviero was about to assign Real Mallorca B to the Tercera División for the 2011/2012 season. With the equaliser comes a slight glimmer of hope that Mallorca could recover, but in reality, it seems as if their chances are now all but over.
