Gramenet 4-2 Real Mallorca B
It was a case of same old story this weekend, as Real Mallorca B fell to an embarrassing 4-2 defeat against fellow relegation candidates Gramenet in Catalonia. With 9 matches remaining in Segunda División B and Mallorca 9 points adrift, relegation seems all but certain now.
It took Gramenet 24 minutes to even register their first shot at goal, but when they finally did it gave them the lead. A Santos cross was meant by Pedro to make it 1-0 frustrating the Mallorca team who had previously had two good chances for Aridai go begging.
Joaquín made it 2-0 on 40 minutes as his tame shot from outside the area beat Javi Seral in the Mallorca goal.
Vicente Engonga’s men felt more frustration three minutes later when star striker Sergi Enrich had to be brought off through injury, being replaced by Bardolet.
Eight minutes into the second half, a fantastic pass from Aridai was met by half-time subsitute Abdón who pulled a goal back for Mallorca. But it just wasn’t to be for Mallorca, and with 16 minutes to go the referee gave a harsh penalty for a Javi Seral foul on Pradas. Cazorla stepped up to give Gramenet a 3-1 lead from the spot.
Jaime found himself on the end of an Aridai corner to make it 3-2 with 11 minutes to go, but any chance of a fight back was extinguished when a defensive error gave Toni the perfect chance to finish the game. He duly obliged. 4-2.
Next week is an all important derby against relegation rivals , based in Palma de Mallorca. To stand any chance of survival, Real Mallorca B must take all three points at La Ciutat Esportiva – a draw will just not be good enough.
