Rumours circulating around the island suggest Gonzalo Castro was dropped from the Mallorca starting XI against Hércules on Wednesday night as the rumours speculating about his future was affecting his concentration.
With tongues firmly in cheeks, Mallorca fans held up a banner last night stating ‘Drenthe, if you want to be paid: come here, you won’t have any problem’ regarding Drenthe’s refusal to return to training at Hércules due to his wages not being paid.

When asked about the performance of Argentine striker in Mallorca’s 4-3 loss to Almería, Michael Laudrup stated that ‘today is not a day for praise – for anyone’ despite it making Cavenaghi the club’s top goalscorer this season despite not playing since November.
But Cavenaghi will struggle to be a part of Sunday’s La Liga fixture against Almería whether he convinces a stubborn Laudrup he is worthy or not after picking up an injury in the victory. He was face numerous tests to see whether he will be available.
The performances of goalkeeper German Dario Lux have raised eyebrows on the island with the press questioning why he has managed to concede eight goals in 180 minutes against a team placed 19th in La Liga. Whilst they conceded the defence was poor, Lux’s performances did not help the situation.
Striker Víctor Casadesús stated that it’s ‘hard to progress when you concede eight goals’. But he stated that he hopes his side can ‘play with the attitude of the second half on Sunday. The league is different.’
