Manzano rues ‘missed opportunities’
Sevilla coach Gregorio Manzano believes his side missed an opportunity to infiltrate the Champions League positions in the Primera Division following their surprise 2-1 loss at the hands of Mallorca on Sunday evening.
Michael Pereira had given the home side the lead, but a Luis Fabiano equaliser two minutes from time looked to have salvaged a point. However Pierre Webo’s last-gasp header found the corner, and condemned Manzano to defeat against his former club.
He told journalists afterwards: “We have missed a chance to move into the Champions League spots. We are now four points behind third place, but we must keep fighting. We have Getafe next, then Villarreal, who currently hold the third spot.
“My mood is not good when I lose a game, but you have to channel the energy positively, and also correct the negative. Mallorca has played a great game, and their victory has been deserved. However, the goal we conceded, from the set-piece, could have been avoided.”
