Ramis signs new deal

As the pressure of the transfer window relieves itself for the next six months, so too does the worry of Ivan Ramis’ contract. The Sa Pobla born central defender has signed a new five-year-deal (until July 2015) at the club to end all speculation about his future.

In a deal worth around £11,000 p/w, Ramis has become one of the highest earners of the clubs new wage structure. His buyout clause, however, remains at a very affordable £5m.

Ramis had been attracting the attention of Villarreal, Sevilla and Espanyol with the latter offering around £1m for the player’s service. Serra Ferrer dismissed the offer due to it’s very low nature. Sevilla, on the other hand, wanted to take both Ramis and Nunes to form a new central defensive partnership from the ruins of Mallorca’s financial status. Ramis has also twice been a target of Celtic’s in January 2010 and again in the summer.

Serra Ferrer is keen for Ramis to be one of the leaders of the club along with players such as Nunes, Marti and Dudu Aouate.
