Players Union Calls for Mallorca Relegation

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have come out in “total support” with the Players Union after they called for punishment to “all clubs that fail to pay their players wages”. The comments come in direct response to Mallorca’s claims that to ‘remove a team from a competition is unlawful‘.

“All clubs who have not met their financial obligations by July 31st will be relegated to Segunda División B. There is no legal provision in the insolvency act, or any other legislation, that prevents relegation as a result of not meeting financial obligations,” warned Union President Luis Rubiales.

The Union wanted to remind the Balearic club that “the decline of the clubs in the competition has already been done”.
