Nunes blow for Mallorca

Mallorca defender Nunes will miss next Sunday’s Primera Liga tie away to Barcelona after picking up an ankle sprain in the win over Real Sociedad.

The 33-year-old Portuguese had to be replaced half an hour into the victory over the newly promoted Basque side and there were fears of a serious injury but initial tests performed by club’s medical officials have allayed those worries.

Nunes will undergo a more detailed examination on Tuesday, but according to AS, he is expected to miss between two and three weeks of action. That will certainly rule him out of the game at Camp Nou but due to the forthcoming international break that may be the only game he misses with the Barralets next fixture on October 17 against Espanyol.
