“I have never been paid by Mallorca,” claims Webo
Real Mallorca striker Pierre Webo has made some astonishing claims that in the four seasons he has been at the club, he has never once been paid his wages. His claims come after he spoke of his ‘disappointment’ that the club have been trying to sell him because of his loyalty in not causing an issue over his wages.
Webo joined Los Bermellones from Osasuna in 2007, where he made 114 appearances scoring only 20 goals. He was signed on a contract worth £19,500 per week that will expire in June 2011.
The club have vehemently denied Webo’s claims that they have not paid him. “We don’t understand why Webo says he hasn’t been paid. In the summer of 2009, all wages that were overdue were paid. And this summer, wages were guaranteed by the Wage Guarantee Fund belonging to LFP which occurs when any club declares bankruptcy.”
Whether the story is true or not, the allegations are unwelcome following the Players Union calls for clubs who don’t pay their players to be relegated.
