Serra Ferrer lashes out at Nando Pons

Llorenç Serra Ferrer has lashed out at sporting director Nando Pons who, after a month of negotiations to terminate his contract, is still at the club and contracted until the summer of 2014. This comes less than two weeks after the administrators of the club confirmed they would sue Pons for £820,000.

“The people of Mallorca aren’t aware of the situation that is happening,” stated Serra Ferrer. “What we need is understanding but Nando Pons is a man who has worked little. Over the past month he has refused to help in any way. We have tried not to create conflicts but some people believe they are more important than the club.”

In the interview, Serra Ferrer went on to criticise the management of Vicenç Grande, Gregorio Manzano and, once more, Nando Pons. He said that “the management was wrong, but it wasn’t just the management who were responsible for some of the debts we have been left with”.

The Spaniard also confirmed that they are serious about signing a striker, but declined to confirm names after stating “every time a name has come out so far, the price of the player has gone up by €100,000. I can’t confirm any more than I doubt he’ll be Spanish, as they are very expensive.”

And when talking about the Europa League expulsion, Serra Ferrer said he was “disappointed as we wanted to play. We felt it was a reward for the players and fans. I spoke to Miquel Bestard [at the RFEF] to arrange a meeting with Villar [president of the RFEF] about the situation but we didn’t receive a reply from the federation. I think that shows a major lack of respect.”
