Espanyol after Ramis
Highly rated defender Ivan Ramis has attracted the interest of Primera Division outfit Espanyol with his good performances for Real Mallorca last season, if a report in El Mundo Deportivo is to be believed.
The Catalan outfit are in the market for defensive reinforcements because of the departure of Nicolas Pareja to Spartak Moscow this summer and head coach Mauricio Pochettino supposedly sees Ramis as the perfect replacement.
The 25-year-old Ramis is a product of the Mallorca youth academy and made his official debut for the Islanders in February 2004. The centre-back has since made over 100 official appearances for Mallorca. He has also been capped for Spain at under-21 level.
Mallorca are being plagued by financial problems and could therefore be forced to cash in on the defender this summer. Ramis’ current contract with Mallorca runs until the summer of 2011.
