CD Tenerife 2-0 Real Mallorca

Tenerife have beaten a weakened Mallorca XI 2-0 in Los Bermellones’ final game of pre-season. The game saw the introduction of Joao Victor and Edson Ramos (Ratinho) who the club have taken on trial but the spotlight was clearly focused on Arconada and his team.

Tenerife started the brighter and their attacking football created several chances for striker Natalio. But it wasn’t all Tenerife as Mallorca had three clear chances through counter attacking play. A lack of true goalscoring ability brought those chances to an end though.

Two minutes before the close of the first half and a Bertrán cross was met by Natalio who sent the ball in the goal off the inside of the post. Tenerife went in at half time 1-0 up.

Second-half subsitutions, including those of trialists Joao Victor and Edson Ramos, saw Los Bermellones pick their performances up. But a resilient Tenerife defence held guard well. Goalkeeper Luis García saved shots from Sergi Enrich, De Guzmán twice and a header from Pierre Webo.

With 25 minutes to go, Tenerife finished the game off. A Kome corner was met by Hidalgo who hit the bar. It left Nino with an easy tap in to make it 2-0.

Mallorca’s lack of ability in front of goal once again reared it’s head before the game was fully killed off by a number of substitutions.

All in all, nothing new learnt from this game. Nothing new to worry about either. But Mallorca, financial problems or not, desperately need a striker who can score, otherwise relegation is a certainty.
