UEFA prepares veto
UEFA, and Michel Platini, are preparing yet another astonishing turn around in their decision over whether to include Real Mallorca in this coming season’s UEFA Europa League. They have called for a review which will take place on Thursday in which, they say, a final decision will eventually be made. But despite this negative turn around, and a fourth time UEFA have set their own deadline, those at the ONO Estadi are confident. A legal case a been prepared and will be filed should UEFA’s veto be confirmed in the coming days.
UEFA has already prepared it’s story as to how it’ll exclude Los Bermellones from the competition. The body, chaired by Michel Platini, will state that the club are at risk of disappearing into the ether due to their poor economic state. Platini will also not hesitate to acknowledge that RFEF president Ángel María Villar acted negligently in granting the license to the club on 14th May.
The bankruptcy issue has fallen into the background. Platini has no intention of using Article 33, the regulation that allows UEFA to veto any club’s entry to the competition for being bankrupt. Whilst the club seek the court order that told UEFA not to disqualify the club to be reissued, with such little time remaining this is almost impossible.
