Mallorca want de Guzman
According to a report in Voetbal International, Europa League hopefuls Real Mallorca are sitting in pole position to sign highly rated attacking midfielder Jonathan de Guzman. The playmaker is available on a free transfer after having left Dutch giants Feyenoord this summer. The Primera Division side are eager to add some creativity to their squad in the summer transfer window and new coach Michael Laudrup supposedly sees the 22-year-old as the perfect addition to his team.
De Guzman is a product of the Feyenoord youth academy and has made 109 Eredivisie appearances for the Rotterdam side, scoring 23 goals in the process. He has also been capped for Holland at under-21 level. Feyenoord were keen to hold on to the young midfielder, but De Guzman refused to sign a new contract with the Stadionclub and will leave Feyenoord on a Bosman move.
Mallorca reportedly face stiff competition in the race for De Guzman’s signature. Clubs such as PSV, Espanyol, Getafe, Valencia, Koeln, Hamburger SV and CSKA Moscow have all been linked with the midfielder, too.
