Mallorca to open against Madrid

The fixtures for the 2010/2011 La Liga season have been announced, and it sees Michael Laudrup’s Real Mallorca open up at home against Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid on the 29th August at the ONO Estadi. They will close the season at the ONO Estadi against Atletico Madrid on the 22nd May 2011. The full fixture list for Real Mallorca can now be found on our La Liga page.

With previous years allegations of fixture rigging, it seemed as if the RFEF had committed a blooper when the fixtures for the new season were posted to the RFEF website yesterday. This set of fixtures saw Real Mallorca open up away to Real Sociedad, a match which will now be played on the 20th February 2011. The RFEF have so far refused to comment and it remains to be seen whether this post was a test or whether the draw had indeed been rigged and then changed overnight because of the blooper.
