Ibagaza and Albin for Mallorca
With the managing situation sorted, Mallorca’s attention now turns to midfielders. Weakened by the departures of Borja Valero and Julio Alvarez, along with the possible departures of Marti and Chori Castro, the club has found itself linked with former player Ariel Ibagaza and Getafe’s attacking midfielder Juan Ángel Albín Leites.
Should Ibagaza rejoin the club, it’d be his third stint after his original time from 1998-2003 before he returned for two seasons between 2006 and 2008. Even in 2008 Ibagaza was deemed worth enough of £1.2m. The 34-year-old has enrolled his two children into a well known Palma school ready for the 2010 school year to begin.
New manager Michael Laudrup has also dropped hints over his interest in Juan Albín. Getafe are unlikely to make it easy for Mallorca to sign the Uruguayan midfielder though as it is currently in court with Laudrup over an alleged breach of contract worth £830,000.
