Feyenoord 0-1 Real Mallorca

Real Mallorca achieved their third win of four pre-season friendlies 1-0 against Feyenoord at the Feijenoord Stadion. But as well as preparations for the new season, Mallorca players used this game as a stage for their protests to UEFA donning shirts bearing the slogan “UEFA, fair play please”.

The game was also a fond farewell to former FC Barcelona player Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who was presented with a commemorative plaque in front of 45,000 people.

It was a De Wrij own goal that handed Los Bermellones the victory, but Laudrup will be pleased with the performances of Emilio Nsue, Tomas Pina and Michael Pereira in what was a strong team fielded by the manager. Dudu Aouate started in goal whilst Cendros, Nunes, Ramis and Corrales lined up in defence. Nsue started on the right hand side of midfielder with Castro on the left as Marti partnered Pina in the centre again. Victor and Webo started up front.

Feyenoord controlled the game for the first 30 minutes. But as Mallorca settled, the game started to turn. And on 34 minutes, Jose Nunes attacked a Pep Marti corner which De Wrij failed to take control of to give the visitors the lead.

The second half was largely a dull affair in which Feyenoord marginally had the better off. The game was killed off as any sort of spectacle though when both managers made a number of changes which saw the introductions of Pereira, Crespi, Keita, Josemi and Trejo. However, if it wasn’t for Dudu Aouate who made several good saves, the game could’ve had a very different scoreline.
