UEFA cancel Mallorca visit

UEFA have canceled their trip to Mallorca despite visiting the stadiums of Getafe and Atletico Madrid, in regards to the clubs taking part in the Europa League. And they haven’t given a new date for visiting. This will undoubtedly increase speculation that Mallorca will be ejected from Europe to be replaced by Villarreal.

The club was due to be visited today by a UEFA delegate to review the stadium ahead of the 2010/2011 UEFA Europa League – a standard procedure. However, the Islanders received an email on Tuesday 15th June informing them that UEFA had canceled their visit without offering an explanation or any alternative date for UEFA officials to visit.

It is feared that Villarreal is behind the latest developments. The Yellow Submarine have made contact with both the RFEF and UEFA in an attempt to persuade them to remove Mallorca from next season’s Europa League and to reinstate Villarreal, after Villarreal were told they would not be competing in Europe because ‘too many Spanish clubs’ were due to take part.
