Celtic chase Ramis and Keita

Scottish Premier League side Celtic have renewed their interest in Mallorca defender Ivan Ramis, and are also set to swoop for his team-mate Alhassane Keita, according to reports.Stv.tv comments that the Hoops, who were linked with Ramis in the January transfer window but no deal materialised, are looking to strengthen the centre of their defence for next season, and the defender has emerged as one of their top targets.

Mallorca enjoyed a superb season, finishing 5th in the Primera Division table, just missing out on Champions League qualification, and Ramis was at the heart of their success. However, their dire financial situation means that players will need to be sold in the close season, and Celtic have been alerted to the potential availability of Ramis and club team-mate, Alhassane Keita.

The Guinean was used sparingly last season by coach Gergorio Manzano, and Celtic are hopeful of securing a deal for the pair, readying an offer in the region of £3m. In a recent meeting with supporters, Neil Lennon, who is hopeful of securing the manager’s job on a permanent basis, stated that a deal for both players would represent value for money, and the UK market was currently ‘overpriced’.
