Club to host meeting with creditors
The owner of Real Mallorca, Mateo Alemany, has announced that the club will be voluntarily hosting a meeting with creditors imminently to deal with a debt estimated at around £51.5 million.
Alemany appeared at a press conference to confirm that in the coming hours the club will go to court and that it is “not a problem, but a solution that will mark the beginning of a new stage” for Real Mallorca.
Manzano’s departure
In the press conference, Alemany also explained the situation regarding ex-manager Gregorio Manzano who’s contract was left to expire despite taking the club to the Europa League.
The president said that the club had met with Manzano’s agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon, to discuss the contract renewal. Alemany explained that Manzano’s wage demands were “far beyond the means of Mallorca”.
“When we played against Getafe, I met Manzano’s agent in Madrid. He told me that the views of Manzano were on a higher level club.”
