Real Zaragoza 1-1 Real Mallorca
Real Mallorca were denied all 3 points away at Real Zaragoza following a controversial decision which ruled out Aritz Aduriz’s late goal as offside. The point moves them into fourth following Sevilla’s defeat, but the chance to fully capitalise was taken away in a game that was a largely dull affair.
The Islanders got off to the perfect start just 13 minutes in. A Ruben header from a Borja Valero corner put them in front. But Zaragoza levelled the match just 8 minutes later.
A long ball from inside the Real Zaragoza half saw Suazo in plenty of room with only Ruben for company. With a perfect first touch he controlled it and took it round Ruben and lobbed Dudu Aouate from just outside the box. Aouate was in no mans land, stood beyond his 6-yard box.
The rest of the game was as dull as it sounds. An accumulation of errors in midfield. But it was an error on the referee’s part which saw the main talking point.
Aritz Aduriz’s 77th minute winner was wrongly ruled offside. Mallorca instead take only a point, something which could turn out to be damaging in their chase of 4th place.
