Real Mallorca 0-1 Barcelona

Barcelona scraped past a resilient Real Mallorca at the ONO Estadi as they continue their fight for the title with Real Madrid. This defeat for Mallorca is only their second home defeat of the season. It was an unfortunate moment in which the Catalan side won the match.

Manzano went to attack, lining up with two strikers in a 4-4-2 rather than the defensive 4-5-1 that the side adopts away from home. And it looked to be working when Aduriz hit the woodwork after only 3 minutes, Castro's rebound then forcing a good save from Victor Valdes.

Barcelona then started to take control even though it took until the 17th minute for a Milito header to test Dudu Aouate.

Borja Valero then went on to hit the woodwork just before half time too.

Barcelona got the winner just past the hour mark. A corner met Zlatan Ibrahimovic who was unmarked to give the Catalan side the lead.

The Islanders then took the game to Barcelona, who started to die off with, presumably, one eye on the game with Arsenal in midweek. They couldn't beat the Barca defence, however, and stumbled to a 1-0 defeat.
