Racing Santander 0-0 Real Mallorca

The Islanders failed to take full advantage of Sevilla's slip up and move further away in the Spanish race for fourth place at El Sardinero.

Manzano made several changes to the side that beat Atletico Madrid 4-1. Fernando Varela replaced Julio Alvarez who didn't fly due to the impending birth of his child. Webo, Ayoze and Josemi came in for Aduriz, Corrales and Mattioni. And Marti replaced Mario Suarez.

Early on, chances fell for Castro, who should've scored, and Ayoze, who's 30-yarder went just over. Mallorca were the better of the two sides but the best chance of the half fell to Mohammed Tchite who rounded Dudu Aouate but had his shot headed off the line by Celtic target Ramis.

But in the second half it was Racing who looked the stronger side testing Aouate several times.

The introduction of Aduriz, Mattioni and Mario Suarez saw no benefit and the match fizzled out to a 0-0 draw.

Real Mallorca will be hoping that their superb home form will hold up on Saturday night when they entertain Barcelona at the ONO Estadi. If Mallorca were to lose and the newly managerless Sevilla were to win, Sevilla would move up to fourth and the Islanders would drop to fifth.
