Debts mean European place could be stripped

Real Mallorca are now facing another battle in the race for a European place. Athletic Bilbao.

Bilbao have complained to the Spanish FA that they are yet to receive a fee of £1.1 million that the Islanders currently owe them.

Real Mallorca CEO Mateo Alemany has said that if Bilbao 'want war, then that is what they'll get'. But he has expressed his desire to reach an 'amicable agreement' with the Basque club, 'as has been our stance with every club'.

The only threat that matters, however, is Bilbao's. If the two clubs fail to reach an agreement the Spanish FA may block the Islanders place in Europe next season. Another heavy financial blow.
