Real Mallorca announced their plans for pre-season which included trips to Sweden and the Netherlands. The players returned to training on Thursday 7th July where they faced numerous fitness tests to see what shape they went back in. Full training resumed on Saturday 9th July.
After just three days of full training, the team faced its first set of friendlies when it took part in the Stockholm Football Trophy – a tournament sponsored by Sven Göran Eriksson. The games were played between the 12th and the 15th July with Hammarby IF, Sirius and Leicester City all taking part. The games took place at the Söderestadion and each team played two games.
The team then got down to the hard work of pre-season when they travelled to their camp in Holland. From Tuesday 19th July the team were based in Oosterbeek, near Arnhem.
Laudrup’s team then played a number of friendlies in this period until the 1st August when they returned to Palma.
